The next Flowers Sea Swim will be the 32nd annual event and takes place on June 15th 2024.
Every year 1,000 swimmers enter Cayman’s crystal clear blue flat waters along Seven Mile Beach and compete in the Flowers One Mile Sea Swim along stunning Seven Mile Beach. The Sea Swim is one of Cayman’s biggest sporting events and is also known as the world’s richest race, with participants being eligible to win up to $100,000 in prizes. Even better, it’s also a fantastic fundraising event as all entry fees are donated to local charities.
Competitors range from 8 to 80 years and are of varying abilities. Olympic swimmers and local brothers Shaune and Brett Fraser compete every year bringing some star quality to the event and provide inspiration to young Cayman swimmers. The rest of the field is made of up of local and visiting swimmers ranging from the pretty speedy to breast strokers; all aiming to cross the line and be in with a chance of winning some great prizes! US$10,000 is given to anyone who breaks the world record of the fastest swum ocean mile.
For those who aren’t confident in the water there is a Walk & Watch option whereby you walk the one mile on the beach, alongside the swimmers. This is a great way to share in the excitement, contribute to a worthy cause and still be eligible to win fantastic prizes!
While the top athletes will be competing for the top awards, everyone else is hoping to win over $100,000 in cash and random prizes. The odds of winning are 1-in-7 and prizes include tablets, hotel stays, restaurant vouchers, airline tickets and more. All finishers receive a fantastic t-shirt and goody bag full of great surprises
